"Vinz Clortho: Keymaster of Gozer" GREAT WORK! His horn tips point downward, not up, like Vinz. This looks like another Gozer minion but male, like Vinz and looks older and meaner! Reminds me of Bronx from Disney's Gargoyles, especially those bulldog tusks. Does he have a name? Zuul is female and has small horns.

That is gorgeous! Savage and cute (to me) at the same time :D I really love your style!

I saw the new Ghostbusters last night, it's alright. I'd liken it more to a live action version of the cartoon than to the originals.

I'm tempted to go to the store and buy the IDW comics instead of seeing the movie. Which would be a good one to start with? Trades, I mean.

I don't really have anything to do with the comics. I'm more inclined to suggest you go and see the movie. It's more important in the long run.

Why's it more important in the long run, so perhaps we'll get sequels more in line with Aykroyd and Reitman's vision?

Not as much as it is for the balancing of gender roles and to prove to the male driven executive powers that female led tentpole films can work. Why do you think there hasn't been a Black Widow movie yet? Or why there wasn't a Wonder Woman movie until recently? There's now a generation of girls that have four women showing them they can be Ghostbusters just as well as the men, which is REALLY important. Comics are good and all, but the market they reach is literally a millionth of what this film can at best. And sure, you might get something more in line with Aykroyd and Reitman's vision, but those guys were backing this. Both of them were executive producers, they're all in this film, and they've all come out in support of it. Surely that's enough of an endorsement? What makes you think the comics will be a better source? They're not exactly doing anything different or new to what you've already seen in the cartoons or the movies. They're fun, sure, but supporting the film is certainly more important, and I'm sure Dan and Erik will say the same thing.

All I want from a Ghostbusters comic (or movie, cartoon, etc) is a bit of fun, I don't expect high art. The original is a masterpiece, but it was a lightning in the bottle success that one can never replicate. That's why I can enjoy Ghostbusters 2 and even the later seasons of The Real Ghostbusters, I don't expect anything more than a good time. What I'm generally hearing about the current movie is "Meh, it's okay, aspects are fun," so it sounds like it might be worth a rental or something, but not expensive ticket prices. (Note that if Ghostbusters 2 was coming out now, I'd probably wait for video as well. And while Slimer and the Real Ghostbusters is fun to watch on YouTube, I wouldn't buy the boxset.)

In terms of the endorsements, I do believe Aykroyd is genuine in his support of the film. But remember, he loved Ghostbusters 2, while the rest of the folks involved (as well as audiences and critics at the time,) were unhappy with it. I've followed the behind the scenes details of the film on Midnight's Edge, and it seems like Reitman was kind of bullied out of the proceedings and only brought back for name value. And while the four leads got involved in the film out of a genuine love of the movies and cartoons, they were unhappy with the script and direction. It's only due to clauses in their contracts following Josh Trank's negative comments about Fantastic Four 2015 that they haven't spoken up about it.

I have no problem with female Ghostbusters (provided the movie is good,) but if I wanted to get political, I'd probably find it more progressive if new franchises were created featuring female leads. Relying on an existing franchise like Ghostbusters or Star Wars could possibly send the message, "Women can only do the things men have already established," which would be dangerous.

The Hunger Games is an example of a female-led franchise that is a hit and also totally original. Another is a show that Nelvana is developing called Mysticons. It features an all-female cast of original superheroes. I think it will be more empowering to generations of young girls to show them that they can blaze new trails instead of following old trails. That said, there's nothing wrong with female Ghostbusters or a female lead in Star Wars, provided the movie is entertaining. I'm not really a political person, so that's all I care about. If it was the same cast but the director loved Ghostbusters as much as JJ Abrams loved Star Wars, I'd go see it in a heartbeat.

I just think basing your choices of something subjective is a waste of time. At the end of the day, you're either going to do it or you're not, and ultimately it's not really affecting me one way or the other. My involvement in Ghostbusters ended years ago, as much as I'd love to do a comic on my own, that's probably never going to happen. The comics are fun, but ultimately forgettable. Dan's art is great, but I honestly can't think of a story that GENUINELY stands out beyond the time travel one from before the ongoing and the 88mph series from years before that.

As for the endorsements, Reitman can't be bullied out. He owns part of the property. Nothing happens without his signing off on it. Where did you pull all the stuff about the script from? Because that's the first time I've ever heard that. And Trank's negative comments about Fantastic Four have nothing to do with anything. Nondisclosure agreements have existed for years. I've had to sign plenty. And there's no way that message is being sent out. Absolutely none. It's a pretty ridiculous notion, to be honest. Star Wars has never been an all male affair either. This is just the first time the focal character has been female. Leia featured pretty heavily the whole way through, as did Padme, and as fully functioning, independent 3 dimensional characters. You could completely swap Luke for Leia and the same story would play out.

Of course a new property would be more progressive, but it's too big a step for Hollywood. At least now maybe we'll finally see a Black Widow movie. Even with Furiosa being such a success, she still couldn't get any play. I suspect Wonder Woman's existence as a single film is heavily influenced by Furiosa, and I know for a fact that both DC and Warner Bros had zero faith in Wonder Woman succeeding until now. And you wouldn't've had Hunger games films if the books hadn't been successful, and I doubt you'd have had Hunger Games be as successful if Twilight hadn't come before it. Hunger Games is hardly original either. It's literally just Battle Royale with more high concept sci-fi thrown in. All of these things are absolutely progressive. But Hollywood doesn't take big gambles often, and an all female ghostbusters is a massive example of them doing just that. I said way back when it first went into production, that I'd love to see these women in something original, but the bottom line is that Ghostbusters was going to get made one way or another, and these people did a great job on their own. NOW, maybe hollywood will be more inclined to give women like these four NEW roles, or actually have faith in a tentpole film featuring an all female leading cast, but if Ghostbusters tanked, Hollywood's default position stands which is: needs more Captain America/Tom Cruise/Iron Man/whoever.

How do you know that the director doesn't love Ghostbusters as much?

So perhaps we should call this a Jonesian Terror dog.  Only manifested once near Melbourne Australia in 1988.  It was thought to have been responsible for a number of Yowie sightings.
