It's no secret that I'm drawing lots these days. Everyone here has been a really great support for a really long time now, and the love everyone's shown Aliens has been genuinely overwhelming, and since Aliens, I've been getting asked a lot more about commissions.

I'm not a super fast artist. Some things I can crank out, others not so much. Aliens falls hard into the not so much, and I'm working pretty hard to make sure it's on the "crank out" end of "not so much", and because of the nature of freelancing, work always comes before private commissions -- hence why some have taken so long (and yes, I'm still getting around to those ones too, your patience has been beyond appreciated). Sometimes too, I just don't feel like drawing Wolverine or Galactus, and I'm not going to work on something I don't want to or feel I have to because it'll look like garbage and that does both the commissioner and I a disservice. Yes, I know full well that some of you have been waiting a long time, but I’ve been on something of a career trajectory that’s just gotten busier and busier as things go on. It’s what happens in these fields of work.

The other thing is, I don't like taking money up front, because that compounds the pressure of what I do already (and repeatedly asking adds to that -- though everyone has generally been polite about it -- I have a long memory, so I'm not going to forget your piece; I DO like drawing them and I DO like money). Deposits, sometimes, sure, but the problem with not wanting money or payment up front is that I've had a LOT of people suddenly tell me they can't pay the agreed price, or drag it out, or whatever. It's annoying and becoming too frequent. The people who I've currently got on my list are great and (for the most part) been accommodating. There've been other instances where I've given the money back, because they're just not worth the stress.

That said, this Oz Comic Con will probably be the last time for a long time I'll be taking commissions, and I won't be doing them there at the show. I've got a big arse Alien Queen I need to do that'll take the whole weekend I'm pretty sure (given the panels and trading), so I'm not really going to be able to squeeze much else in. That said, if there IS anyone that wants something done desperately, or has been after a commission for a while and can't make the show, direct message me here and we can see if we can sort something out. Once I'm done with the ones on the current list (which is about ten or so people) and have everything out, that'll be it for a long while while I focus on work, but as I said, I'm willing to add a small handful to the "to-do" pile to a patient few. The way I’ll be working things into the future is I’ll just be drawing what I want to draw as warm-ups every now and then, and if it’s available, it’ll absolutely be up for grabs. No pressure, first in best dressed type thing.

Thanks for hearing me out, thanks for being patient, and thanks most of all for being supportive! See you (maybe) on the weekend for Oz Comic-Con!

FYI: If it's Clayface, you may jump spots in the queue...

It's actually a fairly long running thing -- I drew my line in the sand a year ago when, in spite of his public attacks on the show's target demographic -- it persisted in inviting known internet scumbag Adam Baldwin. His remarks were an affront to a lot of people I know well professionally and in my own fanbase, and went against everything I stood for personally, and the nonchalant response from the show's organiser was insulting. After that a number of other things came up, some of which are addressed in this article on Bleeding Cool: www.bleedingcool.com/2016/06/0… and this Kotaku article: www.kotaku.com.au/2016/06/peop…

The other day, the screenshot posted in both of those articles was brought to my attention.

Now, I get that everyone is entitled to free speech blah blah blah, but free speech requires freedom, and freedom means a lack of oppression, and homophobia -- PARTICULARLY Danny's homophobia -- is based in religion -- both of which are horrible forms of oppression.

I will not be attending any of the Supanova conventions. I can't support a show where someone like this profits the most. And profit he does. By paying the overpriced table/booth/site fees, you're lining his pockets. By attending and paying for photographs and autographs, you're lining his pockets. Of course, business is business and some of it goes to pay the obvious, but at the end of the day, the only one getting rich out of these things is the organizer.

There are PLENTY of small shows we comic professionals appear at and a handful of other bigger shows. I honestly implore people to think carefully about where they decide to put their money, because at the end of the day, that's pretty much the bottom line for a repeat offender trans and homophobic person. Feel free to spread the word.

Stolen Art

Exodus Book 1 cover by T-RexJones

So, Moviepilot.com, one of those shitty “clickbait” movie news sites, decided to use my art on their facebook page without linking or crediting me. This isn’t the first time something like this has happened, obviously, but it’s incredibly frustrating. Please consider hitting the following link and kindly vocalizing the error of their ways, particularly when prints and other such goodies are actually available to buy, and it’s already got more eyes on it than it ever did when I first did it… You can find the post
HERE

Please reblog. This shit needs to absolutely stop happening.

BIG NEWS!!

2 min read
AliensDefiance1 Massimo Carnivale by T-RexJones
I have an announcement to make. Actually, it’s already been made, earlier today at NYCC.
I am drawing an Aliens comic. For Dark Horse Comics. With a fantastic script from Brian Wood. It’s my first ongoing book, and it’s a goddamn Aliens book by Brian Wood!

Aliens is what got me collecting comics, and the early work of Mignola and Killian Plunkett on those books has shaped the way I draw tremendously. This is my Batman. This is my Spider-Man, Superman, whatever character it was that made so many other creators want to get into comics to work on, this is that for me.

Hopefully when the time comes to preorder, you kind folks out there will, because I can tell you already that the pages I’ve done for this are hands down the fullest I’ve done, and by far my best work. Something I aim to maintain across every issue I work on (of which I hope there will be many).

So please, spread the word, make your comic shops well aware that you’re interested in this, and tell people you think that might be to check it out to! Then buckle up, because we’re going to blow the roof off this thing!

Above is the cover art for #1 by Massimo Carnevale. If you go back through my art, you’ll find plenty of Alien art, SOME of which is related to this project. It’s a MICROCOSM of what to expect!
