Ghostbusters - Surt by T-RexJones Ghostbusters - Surt by T-RexJones
This may be my new favorite. I loved Surt in the episode "Slimer's Sacrifice" and let's face it, pretty much any episode of anything Ghostbusters related that involves them going into the containment unit is always full of awesome.

Again, like Nexa (and unlike the last image I did -- Theron) I didn't really feel the need to play around with this one. He's an awesomely designed character, and his voice is probably the creepiest in the show (next to the Grundel I think). I also love anything that doesn't have eyes (I popped my horror film cherry on Alien at the tender age of 6 -- probably explains a lot of things too).

Woah, it looks fantastic and creepy enough! Somehow it resembles to some forgotten unholy demon that could be workshipped back in the Mesopotamian age that finds a new place in modern society as a Boogieman or some devilish closet monster.

I hardly remember a few things from the Real Ghostbusters show, is this an official villain then? I love his design, certaintly the absence of eyes gives him a terrific look. It also somehow reminds me to some of the creatures from Guillermo del Toro's movies, or even Hellboy's comicbooks. A few people truly understands the key behind a monster's design, I think. It's not just about maws, claws or spikes: it's mostly about disparity.

Instant fav!

Creepy yet interesting! As much as I enjoyed watching the Ghostbusters films and cartoons, this is definitely something to chill my bones. The name of this particular demon is from Norse mythology; the fiery demon-titan ruler of Muspellheim, who will burn the entire world at Ragnarok. I even have a character named Surt in my gallery, but he's an elf, and he's an honorable sort.

Wow. This is amazing. As a Ghostbusters fanatic, I approve most definitely. And I agree that any time they went into the containment unit there's awesomeness to be had. I honestly think Surt deserved more time than he got. Anyway, great artwork!

Hey! Thanks Ben! Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, too!

He did, you're right there... and I wish we hadda seen more inside the containment unit during EGB's run as well... :(

You're quite welcome. :D

And in this GB fanatic's opinion, EGB should've ran as long as Real Ghostbusters did.

Apparently the containment unit evolved or changed over the years from Real to Extreme. Was quite fascinating.

It would've been cool to see how the original Ghostbusters trapped him. Also would've been pretty sweet if the Boogieman and Samhain returned on the show. And pretty much any episode of the shows that involved the Containment Unit in any way, shape, or form(such as a ghost escaping from it) was nifty as well.

Fritz Baugh had his own idea that Surt was captured offscreen during the episode Ragnarok and Roll. I oddly never thought of that. For some reason, I speculated Surt was the last ghost the original Ghostbusters caught before they went out of business in 1991. I even had a story about it written for an unofficial 8th season of RGB, and would feature cameos by the future Extreme Ghostbusters. When I was young, XGB was really my introduction to the Ghostbusters franchise. I really liked the Ghostbusters back then, and liked them even more after I found out about the movies and The Real Ghostbusters.

Wicked! Surt was one of my favourite ghosts (or is he a ghost? He's a Norse god of fire, if I'm not mistaken).

Yeah, nobody can argue that. That doesn't suddenly redeem Surt for his evil. "Oh well I know he was going to make one main character kill off the other, and then finish the last one, but at least he's interesting." No. Surt is a dickcheese. End of story.

Yes, I know he was mean, and that no matter how interesting he is, it won't change the fact he is a jerk, but it will still not change how cool a villain he is, and neither me nor Trist-Jones is possessed by a Ghostmaker, the Mirror Demon is still in the Ecto Containment Unit. One thing i know, Steve Rifkin is a jerk and is so not cool at all, even if he were a ghost.

This one really is a masterpiece. I always thought that the original design was one of the stronger and creepier ones from the show, but you have truly elevated it by maxing out the design's potential.

On a sidenote, I could also see this in a Guilermo Del Toro movie...

You know, I thought exactly the same thing when I finished it (how Del Toro-esque it is)! Thanks though dude, I really think that this is probably one of my strongest pieces, so I'm glad someone else does as well! :)

Would you believe me? Whenever I browse into my EGB episodes folder I find myself with the mouse on that episode. It takes me a little hard time to force my hand to move the cursor over a different video, reminding to myself that: "This makes the 100th time you watch that! Aren't you tired yet?" :XD:
Yeah, I think I'm going to learn by heart "Slimer's Sacrifice" and "Rage". What do they have in common? Wellll. . . <.<" *coughEduardoRiveracough*
Anyway. . . Oh yep, that Surt guy is kind of creepy (in a someway positive way), and I like how he turned out in here.
And by browsing into some comments below I've just found out that Maurice LaMarche dubbed him; I would've never guessed it! :omfg:

I'm with you on the 'creatures without eyes' thing, it just makes them so much more scary because there's nothing at all there to empathise with. We use eyes to judge intellect and to know that there's 'someone' there, if the thing doesn't have eyes then it's so much harder to make a connection with it.
